Not what I have seen at all, cocoa price is much more than that now, I agree the price was low 2008 but it has gone up 2 to 3 times since then, also what you need to consider is that the farmers managed their farms very badly in 2008, they are improving but at a very slow rate. Farmers need to Improve their quality and yields on farms, (something certification body’s are not focused on) if they do this the price will go up even more. I agree there are bad medical facilities, as a British guy living 3 hours from a ‘hospital’ you do have to take care! Schools are not the problem there are loads of schools; what there is not, are teachers. You always have to be careful at pointing fingers to the course of problems in Africa so I am not going in to that on the internet! The roads are so bad I have spent days crossing the country stuck in good 4x4 cars! They are supposed to be expanding the roads and I have seen some Korean lads poking around Segbwema; it would be interesting to know who is going to fund that project and the real cost of it! But what gets to me is that SL use to have it all! Railways hospitals the first university in West Africa some use to call Freetown the Athens of Africa! Sweet Salone Let’s get that back!
